During the second week in August 2000 the local Church of England churches joined with us for a week of Mission in Bere Alston, called ‘Summer Son 2000’. We had two visiting evangelists, Pete Hodge and Marten Holmes, to lead us through the week and it fulfilled its promise to be very exciting. There were over 100 children attending the 'Jungle Fever' Holiday Club each morning. We would ask for your prayers that seeds have been sown and that we will be able to continue to reach out to the community.
The
events included:
4-7th Flower Festival (St.Andrew’s Church, Bere Ferrers)
7-11th 9.30-12 Jungle Fever Holiday Club for 5-15s
7th 2.30-4.30 pm Favourite Hymns with the Plymouth Central Hall Choir

Some Jungle Fever fun

Once again in 2001 Bere Alston United Church ran a holiday club for children from the ages of 5 to 15 during the Summer holidays in 2001, from the 13th-17th August from 9.30-12 each day
Around 90 children joined in the week and during the mornings we explored the seaside and found out more about who Jesus is through music, drama, crafts and other activities. There were also many games and various sports.
On the last morning five children came forward who wanted to know more about giving their lives to Jesus. We prayed that they would come to know Jesus more and give their lives to him.
